BEVERLEY’S VERDICT: 6/10

LIKED? The build-up to the date. REGRETS? None. SEE HIM AGAIN? No.

-

DATING PAST?

I WAS married for six years, but it ended 11 years ago. since then I have dated, but I haven’t met someone with whom I could enjoy a movie-style happily-ever-after.

Ideally he’ll be a handsome man with those sparkly star qualities my romantic side covets. I want to be swept off my feet.

PRE-DATE NERVES?

YES, a little. I’d told my mum, sister and best friends about the date and they were excited. I knew my date was nervous too because my angels told me so. I chose to wear a dark orange dress with ankle boots.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS?

I WAS hopeful about the date but, unfortunately, when hank appeared on my screen I noticed he had a beard. That’s a big no for me — it’s just a personal thing. I knew even before he spoke a word that our date was going to be a waste of his time.

EASY TO TALK TO?

I WAS disappointed when hank revealed that he’s scared of the sea. Beach walks are important to me.

hank was polite and asked about my work as a Pilates teacher, but when I mentioned I’d written a book on angels he Googled me as we talked. I found it disconcerting.

later, I heard him typing again. It was strange behaviour.

he politely asked questions about the angels, but didn’t sound interested.

EMBARRASSING MOMENTS?

WHERE to start! I was a bit shocked when hank said he lives with his ex-girlfriend. I don’t know any woman who would be happy with that arrangement.

DID SPARKS FLY?

NO. HANK is quite short and when he told me his height I assumed he was joking. he’s 4 ft 11 in and while for some height is irrelevant, I’m 5 ft 7 in and my last boyfriend was 5 ft 9 in. I did apologise profusely.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO MEET IN PERSON?

NO. we talked f or two hours, then I ended it because I wanted to spend the rest of the evening with my son. while hank is a nice person, we’re not right for one another. he did ask for my number, but I declined.

WHAT DO YOU THINK HE THOUGHT OF YOU?

THAT I’m friendly, but perhaps too healthy for him. my lifestyle is very different as I’m into healthy eating, and he doesn’t understand my spiritual side, either. he was more interested in Pilates than angels.

WOULD YOUR FAMILY LIKE HIM?

MY FAMILY would think hank is a nice person.
