Is it worth tuning into Christmas TV shows?

-

THE terrestrial TV companies are really scraping the bottom of the barrel for this year’s Christmas TV. As if Covid and the new restrictions aren’t bad enough, they are serving up utter tripe. m. r. BanniSTEr, Lichfield, Staffs.

I AM surprised to see what the BBC is putting on over Christmas. Nothing really draws me and there are so many repeats of shows I have already seen, with some programmes on twice during the holiday. Despite the fact so many of us have been put back into lockdown and a lot of people like me are on their own, there is nothing to watch. Do we really pay our TV licence for this?

JUST compare the underwhelming dross that us being served up as TV entertainment this Christmas with the festive schedules from decades ago. It’s a tragedy that children won’t be enjoying classic, top quality comedies. The TV schedulers obviously haven’t heard of these shows either. mUnro STarr, Loughborough, Leics.

ON CHRISTMAS Day, I will be home alone. I will cook myself a chicken, enjoy some bubbly and watch a couple of good films instead of the pathetic offerings of the main TV channels. They seem to think that sticking the word Christmas in the title somehow makes for entertaining viewing. name and address supplied.

LOOKING through the list of films on all of the channels this Christmas, I realise I have seen most of them at least once. I won’t be watching much TV, so thank goodness for Lee Child’s Jack Reacher novels.
