100,000 sign petition to stop second referendum
MORE than 100,000 people have signed a petition to stop a second independence referendum.
The House of Commons will consider a debate on the issue after 101,234 put their names to the ‘Do not give consent for another Scottish independence referendum’ petition.
It comes as a campaign group launched a series of billboards, left, with: ‘Vaccination not separation – do your job, First Minister.’
The creator of the petition refused to speak about it last night for fear of reprisals.
But Mark Devlin, founder of The Majority, which is behind the billboard fundraising campaign, said: ‘Recent polls show that independence is way down the list of Scottish voters’ priorities.
‘Scots want their politicians to focus on reality over dreams and work to improve our health, education and jobs.’
The campaign raised more than £3,000 on its first day yesterday.
