PM pins his foreign plan on the Union
BORIS Johnson intends to boost the Union by building Britain’s foreign policy strategy on the talents of the whole UK.
Ahead of a landmark defence and security review, the Government said it had responded to global challenges by combining the resources of the Union and pooling expertise in areas such as science.
It hailed the Union of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland as the nation’s ‘greatest source of strength’.
The Prime Minister hopes to drive investment in industries and secure thousands of jobs, with more foreign and defence work done outside London.
He said the Integrated Review, published tomorrow, would create 40,000 jobs over four years, adding: ‘Our international ambitions must start at home. The foundation of our foreign policy is who we are as a country – our values, our strengths and – most importantly – our people. ’
