Missing my wife and child? It’s all in Line of Duty...

- By Stuart MacDonald

LINE of Duty star Martin Compston has revealed his struggle at being separated from his wife and young child while filming the hit show.

The actor said it had been ‘difficult’ spending several months of the year away from home because of his busy work schedule.

He and American wife Tianna Chanel Flynn live in Las Vegas, where their child was born in 2019. The couple also recently bought a flat in Compston’s home town of Greenock, where they were married in 2016, to be near his parents on trips back home.

However, the 36-year-old admitted he hardly spends any time at the two properties.

He said: ‘We’ve got a house in Vegas, where my wife’s family are, and we’ve got a place back home where I’m from, but most of the time I’m on the road so I’ll be here [the UK] until probably October.

‘It’s been difficult with everything that’s been going on. Obviously my wife has got her own career as well to look after.

‘It’s better her being at home around her family because my parents still work, whereas her parents are retired so she has got that support.’

Compston admitted: ‘I’m never even at our home in Scotland. I’m in Manchester, then in Edinburgh or in Belfast...’

Compston plays Detective Sergeant Steve Arnott in Line Of Duty, which returns to BBC One for its sixth series on March 21.
