WE ALL WISH OUR FRIEND ANDY A QUICK RECOVERY

ANDY NICOL would normally have been front and centre during the Beeb’s TV coverage at BT Murrayfield yesterday afternoon. The Sportsmail columnist and former Scotland captain (pictured) has been a familiar face on their broadcast for many years now, offering his expert analysis and insight. But he was forced to watch from home yesterday after testing positive for Covid-19 on Friday, which was also his 50th birthday. ‘We were due to have Andy Nicol alongside us but on Friday he received a positive coronavirus test, so he is at home recuperating,’ said host Gabby Logan. ‘He is well. We understand it was also his 50th birthday on Friday as well. So many happy returns from all of us. We are all thinking of you and hope there’s something to cheer you this afternoon.’ It wasn’t the result that anyone of a Scottish persuasion was looking for. But, rugby aside, let’s wish Andy a speedy recovery back to full health. From all of your friends and colleagues at the Scottish Daily Mail, and the Scottish rugby family as a whole, we wish you well.
