Strictly AJ’s girlfriend left with 3rd degree burns after botched YouTube bottle stunt
FORMER Strictly dancer AJ Pritchard’s girlfriend was rushed to hospital with third-degree burns after a ‘life hack’ stunt went horribly wrong.
Model and dancer Abbie Quinnen, 23, needed three skin grafts and made 20 hospital visits after a blazing bottle exploded, setting fire to her hair and clothing.
The couple were filming a trick copied from a YouTube tutorial which involved setting rope on fire around a wine bottle in order to cut it in half and make a vase at their London home. But the bottle shattered in Miss Quinnen’s face. A source told The Sun on Sunday: ‘Abbie’s whole upper body went up in flames. It was like something from a horror film.’
AJ, 26, real name Alex Joseph Pritchard, who starred in Strictly from 2016 to 2019, is said to have put out the flames with a wet tea towel before his brother – Love Island star Curtis, 25 – drove Miss Quinnen to hospital where she was treated in intensive care. The source said of the January incident: ‘Abbie was shocked and in a great deal of pain.’ She assured her 49,600 Instagram followers yesterday: ‘I will be OK.’
