Oz has worst rain since 1961

-

FLOODS have forced thousands of Australians to evacuate their homes.

The torrential rain in New South Wales – the state which includes Sydney – is the worst since 1961, with some areas seeing almost a foot of rain since Friday morning.

The flooding, after years of drought and bushfires, saw roads destroyed and whole properties swept away.

Emergency crews attended more than 750 incidents, with some families fleeing in the night as rivers rose.

The deluge is expected to last until Thursday, wreaking havoc with vaccine plans.

A third of the country’s 25million citizens live in New South Wales.
