Is running giving me wrinkles?
‘alThouGh a great form of exercise in moderation, running can leave the skin looking worn and prematurely aged,’ warns cosmetic doctor Dr Rita Rakus.
‘It’s not the direct physical effects of exercise that can speed up the ageing process, but the conditions in which you exercise. exposure to uV rays reduces the skin’s elastin, making us more prone to wrinkles. If you are regularly exercising outside, invest in a good-quality daily moisturiser combined with regular application of SPF. and wear sunglasses or a cap while running to prevent squinting.’
To keep safe in the sun, try Dr Rita Rakus Protect Daily Tinted Broad Spectrum Sun Protection SPF50 (£54, drritarakus.co.uk).
