Aid for rich, not planet

-

GRANTS to bribe motorists to switch to electric vehicles (EV) have been cut from £3,000 to £2,500 and the qualifying value limit is now £35,000, down from £50,000 (Mail).

Last year this grant scheme was renewed and provided an additional £582million of funding. Why should taxpayers be forced to fund rich EV owners?

All this cost to the taxpayer when the UK emissions are only 1.13 per cent and there are only 40million vehicles. There are 1.2billion vehicles on the world’s roads and there will be two billion by 2035.

China, with 30 per cent of global emissions, has 365million vehicles and this number is growing fast. It seems unlikely the rich UK EV owner can ‘save the planet’. CLARK CROSS, Linlithgow, West Lothian.
