Tributes as boy, 16, dies in car crash

- By Joe Hutchison

A 16-YEAR-OLD boy was killed and another teenager seriously injured in a horrific crash.

The two were in a car travelling on the B9176, known locally as Struie Road, in Fyrish, Ross-shire, on Saturday when it veered off and hit a wall.

The boy died at the scene, while a 15year-old girl remains in a critical condition in hospital. They had been passengers in a blue Audi RS4 being driven by a 39-year-old man, who was injured and taken to hospital. Another passenger, a 22-year-old woman, was treated in hospital and released.

Investigators closed the road as they tried to determine the cause of the crash and police appealed for witnesses to come forward. Sergeant David Miller said: ‘We would ask motorists with dash cams to check their footage. They could have an image which could assist us.’

Locals from nearby town Alness have been leaving tributes on social media to the boy who died.

Abbie Millar said: ‘Thinking of the entire family, couldn’t have met a nicer boy, you’ll be missed by so many.’
