Practical driving tests return
A UNIVERSITY researcher has become one of the first people in Scotland to pass a practical driving test following the easing of Covid restrictions.
Øyvind Almelid was out at 9am in Edinburgh yesterday to sit his exam and passed with flying colours.
The 35-year-old, originally from Norway, began taking lessons last August.
University of Edinburgh worker Mr Almelid had a test booked for February but it was cancelled due to pandemic restrictions. He was taught by Andrew Simpkins of RED Driving School.
Mr Simpkins said: ‘I’m prioritising people who have had their tests cancelled or rescheduled. In June we hope to get back to a more regular schedule but with a very packed diary.’
