Health board error as patients double dosed
A HEALTH board has apologised after some patients were given double the recommended dose of the Pfizer jab.
Fewer than five people were impacted by the error at the Queen Margaret University drive-in vaccination centre in Edinburgh, run by NHS Lothian.
The people involved were contacted by the health board after the mix up on Saturday and warned they could experience side effects.
A 68-year-old man, who was receiving his second dose of vaccine, said: ‘I got the jag, which was okay then they phoned two hours later and said there was a possibility the doses hadn’t been diluted properly. These things shouldn’t happen, you should get a proper dosage.’
Professor Alex McMahon, NHS Lothian nursing executive director, said: ‘[The error] has not caused any serious concerns or health issues.’
