T2 star’s murder was ‘cowardly act’
T2 TRAINSPOTTING actor Bradley Welsh was shot dead in an ‘absolutely outrageous and cowardly act’ by the man accused of his murder, a court has been told.
Prosecutor Richard Goddard, QC, said there was ‘overwhelming’ proof that Sean Orman, 30, killed Mr Welsh in April 2019.
He told the High Court in Edinburgh yesterday that 21 pieces of evidence established Orman’s guilt over the ex-boxer’s shooting.
He said it had also been proved Orman tried to murder businessman David McMillan, 50, in Edinburgh one month earlier. Mr Goddard told jurors: ‘The murder of a defenceless Bradley Welsh by shooting him on the steps of his family home in a public street in Edinburgh was an absolutely outrageous and cowardly act by that man.
‘And what you have is the collective strength of 21 separate circumstances arising from all different sources of evidence and pointing the same way – all pointing the same way and forming an overwhelming case that Sean Orman is responsible.’ Orman, from Edinburgh, denies murder and attempted murder. His lawyer, Ian Duguid, QC, said Orman was not responsible for killing the 48-yearold actor.
He told the court his client was involved in crime and had been involved in resetting stolen cars for money.
Mr Duguid added: ‘The suggestion is an assassin or a hitman has been hired for money, first of all to attack Mr McMillan and then to attack the deceased Mr Welsh. ‘It has the hallmarks of organised crime.’ The trial, before Lord Beckett, continues.
