WOMEN have long strived for a tiny waist. But scientists say that the ‘perfect’ waist isn’t determined by a trim dress size, but rather by its proportions in relation to a woman’s hips. According to a study by New Zealand-based anthropologist Barnaby Dixson, a waist-to-hip ratio of 0.7 (or a waist measurement that’s exactly 70 per cent of the hip circumference) is most attractive. This sends a biological signal that a woman is fertile and likely to produce a healthy offspring, as the ratio reflects the distribution of abdominal fat in the body. With her shapely 34in hips and trim 23in waist, Friends star Jennifer Aniston fits those proportions exactly.
