A‘private’ life you can read all about

-

I CAN’T understand why Meghan, who claims to dislike publicity, is promoting the children’s book she has written using her title of Duchess of Sussex. And Prince Harry was treated as a rock star when he appeared at a charity concert in Los Angeles. When will this couple realise they can’t upstage the Royal Family or interest the British public in what they are doing? I wish they could be given the anonymity they crave. Let them get on with their new life in America — they deserve each other. WaynE BOOthrOyD, Bromley, gtr London.

AS A writer, I am not surprised the Duchess of Sussex’s children’s book is being published. If anyone even marginally famous writes a book, the publishers fall over themselves to take it up. Even if footballers, sports stars or actors use ghost writers, no one cares. The name sells the book and so-called celebrities are invited on TV or radio to discuss their work. There are so many talented writers who are ordinary people and can’t get published. They just don’t have a platform or the profile to get noticed.

MEGHAN says her book is based on a Father’s Day poem she wrote for Harry a month after their son Archie was born. Americans do these sort of lovely, personal things. It’s great for the soul.

IT IS rather odd for Harry and Meghan to say they want privacy. Are they inflicting reverse psychology on us all in order to get free publicity for their latest ventures? Are the proceeds of Meghan’s book intended for her own enrichment? How can royal titles be used for personal commercial gain, giving offence to the Queen? All the publicity will ensure the book is a bestseller. Instead of hearing more about this couple, I’d rather know about the worthwhile deeds of ordinary people who are helping to get this country out of the misery of Covid and back to economic growth. MEGHAN’S book describes the special bond between a father and son. No doubt the follow-up will be about the unique connection between a daughter and her father . . . t. BinghaM, tenterden, Kent.

I SEE Meghan is cashing in on her title of Duchess of Sussex again. If the Queen removed it, let’s see how interested the U.S. would be then.

I’VE written a book about a oncepopular couple who went to live in the U.S. because they couldn’t get their own way. Available in all woke bookshops.

WHO will be daft enough to pay £12.99 for Meghan’s children’s book with its excruciating doggerel verse? annE StEPhEnSOn, higham Ferrers, northants.
