QUEUES formed outside pubs and restaurants yesterday as people took advantage of sunny spells to meet up for a meal or an al fresco tipple.
In Glasgow, crowds of customers could be seen enjoying food and drink at tables on Buchanan Street as they caught up with friends.
However, groups of young people In the city’s George Square had to wait patiently before they were able to get a seat.
The Continental-style scenes – despite temperatures being a little-less-than-balmy 12C (53F) – follow pubs and restaurants reopening on April 26 after months of lockdown restrictions.
Businesses can open indoors until 8pm and outdoors until 10pm, although alcohol can only be served to customers seated outside.
For weekend revellers, however, the weather is due to turn decidedly soggy across Scotland today and tomorrow. Rain is expected across much of the country, as well as strong winds.
But if Scotland’s beer garden customers are anything to go by, there will probably still be plenty of hardy souls willing to venture out and brave the elements for a chance to have a pint and celebrate the easing of Covid rules.
