Mums-to-be in jabs delay row
PREGNANT women are facing delays and wasted trips to get the recommended Covid vaccine, a charity has revealed. Government advisers say it is ‘preferable’ for pregnant women to be offered a Pfizer or Moderna jab where these are available.
But the NHS booking system does not let users specify which vaccine they want. It means they may only find an AstraZeneca jab on offer at a vaccination centre.
Ros Bragg, of the charity Maternity Action, said it ‘has led to wasted trips and delays’. Health officials confirmed yesterday that under-40s will also be offered an alternative to the AstraZeneca vaccine after it was linked to potentially fatal blood clots.
