£4,000... for a pair of charity shop chairs!
A RUMMAGE in a charity shop is usually a chance to bag a bargain, but they don’t often come with four-figure price tags.
Bethany Christian Trust’s shop in Morningside, Edinburgh, is offering for sale two black leather Ralph Lauren chairs that were handed in last week by an unnamed donor.
The asking price of £4,000 for the pair – or £2,500 each – might seem a lot but similar chairs sold recently online in the US for the equivalent of £7,000.
Others are for sale on auction site eBay for £2,700 each.
A spokesman for the trust, which supports homeless people, said: ‘They are quite a bargain. This is the first time we have seen anything like this donated. We have had lots of interest already.’
