BUDDIES WITH CUP

-

JIM GOODWIN says he can fully sympathise with Scottish Cup rivals St Johnstone’s Covid plight after the huge impact the virus had on St Mirren earlier this season. The Perth Saints will be without four unnamed players for tomorrow’s semi-final at Hampden. Two members of Callum Davidson’s squad returned positive tests for coronavirus this week, with two more subsequently told to isolate after being identified as close contacts. Davidson last night moved to sign Zdenek Zlamal on an emergency loan from Hearts. Ironically, the goalkeeper answered a similar SOS from Goodwin in September when St Mirren were afflicted by Covid. The Paisley outfit were forced to postpone matches against Motherwell and Hamilton in October, which initially saw 3-0 defeats awarded by the SPFL
