Leith club poised to move for Saints skipper Kerr

- By STEPHEN McGOWAN

HIBS have placed St Johnstone captain Jason Kerr on a list of summer transfer targets. Entering the final year of his contract in Perth, the central defender is up for grabs for a fee of around £300,000. And the 24-year-old is attracting interest from his boyhood idols as they prepare for the possibility of renewed interest in Scotland defender Ryan Porteous. Kerr (below) scored a decisive header against the Easter Road side in the Betfred Cup semi-final before leading Callum Davidson’s side to victory in the final. Meanwhile, Jack Ross’s Hibs face Dundee United in the last four of the Scottish Cup today. And Ross, who is aiming for his first trophy as boss, admits he wouldn’t rule out managing abroad at some stage in the future after an unsatisfying experience south of the border with Sunderland. But the 44-year-old, whose team are currently third in the Premiership, admits he will have to make a success of his time at Easter Road first. ‘Yeah, I must admit that, as I have coached more and managed more, it’s something I have become more interested in and it’s something I would be keen to explore in future,’ said Ross. ‘I have said how content and happy I am at the club I’m with at the moment and the work I still see ahead of me to make sure this club is a consistent feature in the area of cups we’re in at the moment. ‘But I certainly think in the future that it’s something I would love to get the opportunity to do. ‘From a professional perspective, to experience countries and leagues would be attractive but the only way that will ever come around is through being successful at Hibs.’
