Ruth heaps praise on Ross for ‘disciplined campaign’
RUTH Davidson has lavished praise on Douglas Ross for leading the Scottish Conservatives through the Holyrood campaign.
The former leader, who stood down as an MSP at the election but played a key role targeting pro-UK voters in the final days, praised Mr Ross for his first campaign as leader.
She said: ‘As a new leader, he could easily have been fixated about being loved, rather than focused on delivering a result. Instead, he did things properly.’
She said there had been criticism within the party of the focus of the campaign, but said Mr Ross ran ‘the most focused and disciplined campaign I’ve ever seen’.
Miss Davidson also condemned ‘personal attacks’ on him from Labour and the Lib Dems, and said: ‘He just kept ploughing on with what he knew was the only way to achieve a tough objective.’
