Ex-Mormon mum with six children
KAREN Adam is Banffshire and Buchan Coast’s first female MSP.
Miss Adam, 45, who grew up in Aberdeen and was a Mormon for 20 years, took the seat for the SNP with a majority of 772.
The mother of six moved to Aberdeenshire to work and support her family and, before entering politics, was a volunteer and unpaid carer.
A British Sign Language advocate, she was an interpreter for her father, who is deaf, and is also an additional support needs campaigner. She is SNP spokesman for the education and child services committee.
