PALOMA FAITH has revealed the less than glamorous side of life as a pop star turned new mother.

The 39-year-old singer shared a picture of her double pumping breast milk as she spoke of her ‘guilt and concern’ at returning to work 11 weeks after giving birth to her second child, another daughter.

In a ‘postpartum diary’ published on Instagram, Miss Faith said she had been snapping at her partner of seven years, artist Leyman Lahcine, and felt emotional on her first day away from home.

‘I did a bit of work this week,’ she wrote. ‘My first two days back. The first one was OK. The second I had a lump in my throat the entire time.

‘I was snapping at Leyman, I didn’t know why.’

She added: ‘I remember this feeling well from my first. Guilt mixed with concern that they won’t be looked after properly... turns out she was fine. I wasn’t!’

Miss Faith, whose hits include Only Love Can Hurt Like This, sought to reassure other mothers, saying: ‘Working mums returning to work: It always feels too soon, whether you are back like me after 11 weeks, or if it’s a year.

‘And then you are never really away because you are thinking about them, texting about them, pumping for them (like in my pics!) And then there’s the dilemma about childcare.’

Miss Faith had her first daughter with Frenchman Mr Lahcine in December 2016 and subsequently suffered postpartum depression. She became pregnant with her second child following six rounds of IVF last year and gave birth in February.

She said on social media that she ‘lost a litre of blood’ and was in ‘so much pain’ after having a planned caesarean section.
