Cut-price sale of Craig’s mansion

- By Stuart MacDonald

SCOTS star Craig Ferguson has sold his Hollywood mansion for a knockdown price of £2.8million.

The former US chat show host’s sprawling property in the hills above Los Angeles was on the market for more than two years after he moved back to Scotland.

He quit Hollywood after becoming bored with the show business lifestyle and has confessed he loves being in his homeland as hardly anyone recognises him.

The 58-year-old, originally from Cumbernauld, Lanarkshire, put his LA property – which includes a four-bedroom home, guest cottages, a recording studio, swimming pool and library – up for sale for £4.7million in January 2019.

But he struggled to find a buyer and after four price cuts, it was advertised last year at £3.4million. Property records show it sold for £2.8million last month.

The former The Late Late Show host, pictured, and third wife Megan Wallace Cunningham bought it for £3.2million in 2012. A sales brochure for the property said: ‘Oneof-a-kind private compound on a large lot just north of Beachwood Village. Main house plus two selfcontained, one-bedroom guest cottages and detached library/ office. Awesome pool and deck area with expansive green and some city views.’ Of his move home, Ferguson said: ‘There’s plenty of people in Scotland who work in show business but what I like about being in Scotland is there are plenty of people who don’t.’
