■ TOEING the line, as one character in TALAWA STORIES — NSA (RADIO 4, 2.15PM) observes, ‘gets you what you need, not what you want’. Don Gilet (pictured) plays Man, with Idris Debrand as his much younger counterpart, in this radio version of Charles Entsie’s debut stage play, No Strings Attached. Both characters are black, and both of them are having to come to terms with the fact that their lives aren’t heading in the right direction. This is a play full of nuances, delivered with perfect timing by both actors.

■ GARY DAVIES celebrates three years at the helm of SOUNDS OF THE 80S (RADIO 2, 8PM) — the show that celebrates the mood and the music of the decade — with a special allrequest edition. He is joined by Marti Pellow, who got

together with three other school friends in 1982 to form the band that evolved into Wet Wet Wet. The Eighties weren’t always good for Marti, but tonight, he and Gary look back to the brighter side of that decade.

■ THE double Olympic champion Kelly Holmes abandoned early dreams to be an athlete to serve in the Army, but was drawn back to the track. In MEETING MYSELF COMING BACK (RADIO 4, 9PM), she joins John Wilson to listen to archive material covering key moments — including both triumphs and tragedies — in her athletics career.
