Massive gamble
THE SNP is in a confused state as it regards votes for the party as a vote for Scottish independence, which is far from reality.
Repeated polls indicate that the Scottish electorate do not want to separate from the UK.
The Union has worked well for more than 300 years.
Our reputation in world terms is solid and reliable as a fair and democratic country, and most citizens enjoy a comfortable lifestyle with excellent NHS services.
The prospect of losing this status with the secure comfortable lifestyle would be a massive gamble as the odds against Scotland as an independent country maintaining the UK standards are far too high to risk. DENNIS FORBES GRATTAN,
