Three-game bans for derby duo

- By ROB ROBERTSON

GLASGOW’S Oli Kebble and Edinburgh’s Mark Bennett have been banned for three games each after being redcarded in last Friday’s 1872 Cup decider at Scotstoun. Bennett was sent off for a high tackle on Ali Price in the 33rd minute of the Rainbow Cup clash, while Kebble followed him five minutes later for elbowing Henry Pyrgos. Warriors conceded 27 penalties in the clash — a total described as ‘ridiculous’ by head coach Danny Wilson — yet still managed to win 29-19 to lift the trophy.

However, their indiscipline has become a problem this season and Scotland international Rob Harley, who was sin-binned for side entry at the maul, says cutting down the crime count is a priority if Wilson’s team are to celebrate consecutive victories over their fierce rivals in the second of their back-to-back encounters at BT Murrayfield tomorrow. ‘I was disappointed at my yellow card and, although I thought I was hard done by, I’ve watched it back and the referee’s got it right,’ said Harley. ‘The defensive effort throughout the whole 80 minutes was incredible. ‘On the other hand, the indiscipline gave (Edinburgh) a lot of access into the game, gave them the chance to get field position and they also hurt us with the driving maul. ‘My yellow card was emblematic in some ways of our discipline in the game, where we gave them a lot of penalties and that was pretty costly, so we need to massively improve on that.’
