Megaphone man banned for MP threats
A MAN who threatened an MP has been banned from contacting her for two years.
Dr Lisa Cameron, 49, was left in tears after plumber Brian McKerrow, 49, used a megaphone to shout abuse outside her constituency office.
The SNP member for East Kilbride, Strathaven and Lesmahagow had already spoken to police over concerns about his behaviour to her and staff.
Dr Cameron first met McKerrow in 2018 when he contacted her with issues regarding contact with his daughter but did not see him again until January 2019, when he repeatedly shouted her name and abuse to her office in East Kilbride, Lanarkshire.
At Hamilton Sheriff Court, McKerrow, of Kirkintilloch, Dunbartonshire, denied stalking and a plea to a charge of acting in a threatening and abusive manner was accepted. He was put under supervision for two years by Sheriff Linda Nicolson.
After the sentencing yesterday, Dr Cameron said: ‘I do hope that Mr McKerrow receives the intervention he requires.’
