-

JOSH DOIG admits he is ‘gutted’ at having to withdraw from Scotland Under-21s duty just two days after being handed his first call-up. the Scottish Football Writers’ association young player of the year suffered a bitter blow last weekend as his Hibernian side lost out to St Johnstone in the Scottish cup final. But there was consolation in store when Scotland Under-21s manager Scot Gemmill named the 19-year-old left-back in his squad for next month’s friendly double-header with northern Ireland. However, the badly bruised heel he picked up in the cup final has forced him to pull out of Gemmill’s squad. doig posted on twitter: ‘Was really looking forward to meeting up with the squad. Gutted to have to pull out. In good hands with our medical team so have to take the advice on board.’
