SIR Alex Ferguson boosted the value of his company to almost £17.5million last year.

The former Aberdeen, Scotland and Manchester United boss’s family firm has posted an impressive set of results which show his wealth is continuing to soar eight years after he retired.

The Glasgow-born manager, pictured, has earned millions from book deals, personal appearances and public speaking engagements, and a documentary film on his life was released this year.

Latest accounts for his company ACF (Alexander Chapman Ferguson) Sports Promotions show it has total assets of £21million and owes just over £3.5million to creditors within one year.

The firm is valued at £17,483,373 – an increase of more than £5million from the previous year.

Sir Alex’s company made a profit of around £3million for the year and its value was also boosted by the addition of his £2million football memorabilia collection to its assets.

The accounts show the firm has invested millions in a number of US-based private equity funds, including more than £2million in one called Distressed Managers. The fund is a subsidiary of the New Yorkbased finance giants Goldman Sachs.

ACF’s assets include an investment portfolio worth almost £13million and more than £2.3million in a bank account.

The accounts, which cover the period up to June 30, 2020, state ACF’s revenue is derived from ‘appearances, image rights and royalties from the writing of books’.

While Sir Alex and his wife Cathy have been listed as directors of ACF since 1988, a change came in 2012 when their three sons joined the board in preparation for their father’s career change.

On November 29, 2012, Jason Ferguson, his twin Darren and eldest brother Mark also became directors of ACF, and they now run the company’s day-to-day operations.

Sir Alex, 79, who retired from the Old Trafford hot seat in May 2013, still works 20 days a year as a Manchester United ambassador.

His autobiography has sold more than one million copies and he makes himself available for motivational speaking – at a price of £100,000 per event.
