UK buys extra 35m jabs

-

MINISTERS have bought 35million doses of the Pfizer vaccine for delivery next year to ‘futureproof’ the jab programme.

UK Health Secretary Sajid Javid said the deal would help protect against new variants in a clear indication that booster jabs are likely to go ahead. The extra doses were part of preparations to keep the country safe ‘for years to come’, he added.

The UK already has sufficient jab supplies for this year. In all, the Government has secured access to 432million doses. Pfizer has time to tweak the jab before next winter if new variants emerge.
