Sacrifice not in vain

-

I AM disappointed President Biden and Boris Johnson have not answered claims the sacrifice by the Armed Forces in Afghanistan was for nothing.

Half of the population have grown up during the military presence and been made aware of the West’s pursuit of equality, education and the upholding of law and order.

The ultimate sacrifice of hundreds of British soldiers and thousands of Americans has not been in vain. But 20 years has been enough. What do we expect: 30 years, 50 years?

BOB NANCARROW, Henley-on-Thames, Oxon.

FOR three years, i attended the repatriations at Royal Wootton Bassett with a Royal Air Force Association branch standard to pay homage to those brave members of our Armed Services who lost their lives in Afghanistan.

I saw at first hand the distress of their families. i am left wondering what was it all for.
