Greens’ ‘passport’ fear

-

NICOLA Sturgeon has been warned vaccine passports will create a ‘generational injustice’ by Patrick Harvie.

Scottish Greens co-leader Mr Harvie is due to become a Government minister after the SNP and his party agreed a coalition style deal.

But yesterday it appeared they could already be headed for their first major disagreement.

On Friday, Miss Sturgeon said an app to allow for vaccine passports for international travel could also be used for ‘domestic documentation’. The First Minister said this could be used for some venues to add additional protection.

But Mr Harvie told BBC Scotland’s The Sunday Show: ‘I think there would be a real danger that you get into a situation where young people only end up getting into certain venues if they’re working.

‘So there is a generational injustice as well, if we’re effectively saying people who’ve not had access to the vaccine don’t get to do certain things.

‘We’ve always been sceptical of the idea that access to services or things people do should be dependent on your health status.’
