OAP’s ‘horrifying wait’ of 17 hours after fall at home

-

MARGARET Rothery, 98, had to wait nearly 1 hours for an ambulance after falling at her home in Fairmilehead, Edinburgh, last month.

Her daughter Ruth Rothery, 2, called an ambulance at 2.30pm but, while waiting, the OAP fell again and was unable to get up.

The ambulance did not arrive until am the following day, August 15. Her daughter said: ‘My mother was becoming increasingly unwell. It was horrifying for my mother to have to wait. It was awful to see.’

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesman issued an apology to the family at the time.

Miss Rothery said: ‘The crew looked absolutely exhausted when they arrived.

‘They apologised for our wait but said there was nothing they could do about it.

‘They seemed as frustrated as I was.’
