Faslane staff safety fears

-

FIRE and rescue workers at Faslane nuclear submarine base have begun an overtime ban over ‘safety concerns’.

The Unite union said members took action yesterday after Capita managers cut the specialist fire safety crew by eight positions at HM Naval Base Clyde, near Helensburgh, Dunbartonshire, and the Royal Naval Armaments Depot at nearby Coulport.

It said the cuts impair the abilities of the onsite fire crews to do their jobs properly.

Capita said it was ‘disappointed by Unite’s decision’.
