Minister must go

-

WHAT on earth have we, the Scottish people, done to deserve such a wholly ineffective, inadequate and incompetent representative as Humza Yousaf MSP? His comments on the 999 emergency service were disgraceful and irresponsible.

Any delay in calling the emergency services requesting an ambulance – for a potential heart attack or stroke victim, for example – is potentially life-threatening.

Mr Yousaf’s job is to manage an effective and well resourced emergency service but is failing to do so.

He has held ministerial positions in transport, Europe and external affairs. He was Secretary for Justice prior to his appointment as Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care.

With these appointments, the First Minister is allowing ambition to overrule ability and he should be consigned to the backbenches at the earliest opportunity.

RICHARD ALLISON, Edinburgh.

SO the Health Secretary is now telling us not to call an ambulance? Can anybody tell me of ANY country where the person in charge of the health system tells their fellow countrymen not to phone for an ambulance? Never, ever, been said. He must go.

GORDON MACCALMAN, Motherwell, Lanarkshire.
