ROSS: MY HIBS SIDE DID NOT ‘CELEBRATE’ DRAW
HIBERNIAN head coach Jack Ross has hit back at Hearts counterpart Robbie Neilson, insisting his claim the Leith side ‘celebrated’ Sunday’s 0-0 derby draw is an ‘untruth’. At the end of the Tynecastle clash, Ross and his players acknowledged the support they got from a capacity 3,000 away end in what was the first sell-out clash between the Edinburgh rivals since March 2020.
However, Neilson said: ‘You saw Hibs after the game; they were celebrating with their fans. It seemed like they were delighted to get a point against us. After the game our dressing room was silent. Our guys think we should win every week.’
While reluctant to be dragged into a public spat with Neilson, Ross said: ‘I don’t pay attention to what other managers say, particularly as the word “celebration” was used. It’s just not true, is it? ‘I don’t concern myself with external opinions from other clubs and untruths. I think we’ve shown for a long time at this club the mentality we have in the group and where we’re trying to get to.’
When it was suggested to Ross that the scenes were just a recognition of the fans, he replied: ‘Yeah. Anyone who was in the stadium or watched it on television would know that.’
