RANGERS ‘HELD TALKS OVER CINCH IBROX’

RANGERS reportedly held talks with cinch over naming rights to Ibrox before their dispute with the SPFL over the firm’s sponsorshi­p of the Scottish league. Advocate Lord Keen of Elie QC told the Court of Session yesterday that Rangers Football Club Ltd spoke to the online car retailer cinch about a proposal to call the club’s home ‘the cinch Ibrox stadium’. The SPFL champions, heard the court, were in negotiatio­ns with cinch right up until June 7. On June 11, four days later, the SPFL announced a five-year £8million sponsorshi­p deal with the car firm. Rangers have since refused to allow cinch branding to appear on team shirts or advertisin­g boards within the stadium after chairman Douglas Park argued that the sponsorshi­p deal breached a commercial
