There are times when what you really want is a little something sweet, either at the end of a family meal or as a treat after a long day. There’s no need to sabotage your weight-loss and health plans either — one of these delectable suggestion­s is bound to hit the spot without adding to your waistline.

When that sugar craving strikes, there’s always a delicious, healthier alternativ­e you can knock up so you can keep on track with your health goals and stick to your SmartPoint­s budget — whichever colour plan you are on.

INSTEAD OF A SLICE OF CHOCOLATE CAKE TRY: Melt-in-the-middle mug cake

PuT 1 banana, 1 egg and 1 tbsp cocoa powder into a bowl and whisk to a smooth batter. Pour the batter into a mug and put your chosen WW bar in the centre. Cook in the microwave for 2½-3 minutes.

INSTEAD OF SUGARY SNACKS TRY: Frozen yoghurt drops Mix 100g 0% fat natural Greek yoghurt with mashed raspberrie­s. Add 1 tsp icing sugar, give it a good mix, then drop teaspoons of the mixture onto a tray lined with baking paper. Flatten the drops into small coin shapes and pop in the freezer for a few hours.

INSTEAD OF CHOCOLATE FONDUE TRY: WW choc fondue dip

Mix 150g 0% fat natural Greek yoghurt with 1tbsp WW Chocolate hazelnut Spread, give it a good mix to make a smooth dipping sauce. Now, dip in any fruit that you fancy — grapes, strawberri­es, raspberrie­s blueberrie­s, etc.

INSTEAD OF TRADITIONA­L TIRAMISU TRY: Quick tiramisu

Pour 100ml boiling water over ½ tsp instant coffee, stir to dissolve and set aside for a few minutes to cool. Meanwhile, in a bowl, mix together 30g reduced-fat mascarpone, 30g fat-free natural fromage frais and ½tsp icing sugar. Dip three sponge fingers into the cooled coffee and layer them with the mascarpone mixture and 50g fresh raspberrie­s in a serving bowl.
