ATM downturn

NEARLY £100 million less is now withdrawn from cash machines every day compared to before the pandemic, according to Link.

The ATM network found that withdrawal­s had fallen 40 pc, but customers had increased the average amount they were taking out, from £66.99 to £78.54.

Cold cash

AUTO-SWITCHING site Labrador is offering cash to families who turn down the heating. If customers use less energy than their supplier predicts, the site will pay out 3p for every kWh of electricit­y they save and 1p for every kWh of gas.

Ups and downs

HOUSE prices have fallen fastest in towns in north-east England over the past decade, according to Office for National Statistics data.

A third of towns in the region saw average values drop, whereas Iver Heath in Buckingham­shire saw the biggest increase, with the average home shooting up 115 pc.

Pension brush-off

ONE in five people would not pay more into their pension if they could, according to investment service Hargreaves Lansdown. Nearly two in five say they would need a pay rise, while one in three says their employer would have to match a higher payment.

BUY now, pay later lender Klarna has introduced a ‘pay now’ option for shoppers who do not want to spread the cost of their purchases. But shoppers who pay with Klarna cannot use Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act to claim refunds.

SANTANDER is extending its £130 switching offer to December 2 following customer demand. To qualify you must switch to its 123, 123 Lite, Everyday, Select or Private current accounts through the Current Account Switching Service. You must also set up two direct debits and deposit at least £1,000 within 60 days.

Trying terms

ONE in five policyhold­ers does not read the terms and conditions detailed in their insurance documents, according to GoCompare.

The comparison site found that a quarter of those who skipped the task said the documents were too long, while 6 pc said the text was too small.
