Royals’ look of love at eco awards
WITH her hand resting on his lower back as they look into each other’s eyes, this behind-the-scene glimpse of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge is both touching and intimate.
The black and white picture shows William and Kate at the Earthshot Prize awards.
It was one of three images, taken by royal photographer Chris Jackson, that the couple posted on social media yesterday following Sunday’s inaugural eco-event.
The Earthshot Prize is awarded by the Royal Foundation to five winners each year for their contributions to environmentalism. Guests at the ceremony at London’s Alexandra Palace had included Sir David Attenborough and Dame Emma Thompson.
Meanwhile, William has said he would welcome entrepreneur Elon Musk’s involvement in his Earthshot prize, just days after he appeared to rebuke the Tesla tycoon.
Last week William hit headlines around the world when he said entrepreneurs should focus on saving the Earth rather than funding a new space race and space tourism.
His comments were widely interpreted as a rebuke to Mr Musk,
Amazon boss Jeff Bezos and Virgin tycoon Sir Richard Branson, who have all invested heavily in space race research and space tourism.
But at Tuesday night’s Global Investment Summit reception at Windsor Castle, William told guests it would be ‘great’ if Mr Musk wanted to get involved in Earthshot, which awards £1million prizes to projects that are working to tackle the planet’s environmental problems.
He said: ‘What I was trying to get across is we need those brains working that can do both.
‘We need to be working on solutions here too.’
