Sparkling with jewels, Meghan reads to children on YouTube ...from her own book
THE Duchess of Sussex kept it casual in a blue shirt and jeans for an online reading of her children’s book yesterday – apart, that is, from jewellery worth around £340,000.
Meghan, 40, wore her hair in a bun she appeared on a children’s YouTube channel to read from her book The Bench.
She added some sparkle to her outfit with jewellery including a £17,800 Cartier Tank watch believed to have once belonged to Princess Diana.
Former actress Meghan bought her own two-tone Tank watch in 2015 when Suits, the American drama series in which she was starring, was commissioned for a third season – and was later given Diana’s watch as a gift from Prince Harry. Yesterday she also wore her £271,000 engagement ring which was designed by Harry.
The ring includes a large stone from Botswana and two smaller ones from Diana’s own collection.
The storybook video was filmed at the duke and duchess’s £11million mansion in Santa Barbara, California, and was shared on the Brightly Storytime channel, which is run by Penguin Random House, the publishing house which published The Bench and with which Harry also has a book deal.
Meghan also wore a Cartier love bracelet, estimated to be worth £5,000. The 18-carat yellow gold bangle is a piece she has worn many times before and is made of two C-shaped halves that can be removed only with a screwdriver.
The feature is said to be inspired by medieval chastity belts and Cartier describes the piece as ‘a symbol of free-spirited love’. The Duke of Windsor and Wallis Simpson each had earlier versions of the bracelet.
Meghan also appeared to be wearing a £2,406 mini gold tennis bracelet by Jennifer Meyer and a diamond ring on her little finger thought to be by celebrity jeweller Lorraine Schwartz and estimated to be worth as much as £45,076.
