Kenya murder case reopened
AN investigation into the murder of a young mother last seen in a hotel with British soldiers has been reopened by Kenyan police.
Agnes Wanjiru, 21, pictured, disappeared near a UK military training base in Kenya in March 2012. Her stabbed body was found three months later in a septic tank.
A fortnight ago a soldier from the Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment claimed a colleague had confessed to killing her and showed him where he dumped her body near the Lions Court Hotel in Nanyuki.
Yesterday police chief Hilary Mutyambai ordered the reopening of the case, adding: ‘I am also urging the UK Government to collaborate with us to conclude the case and administer justice.’
The UK Defence Secretary has promised support for any fresh investigation into the death of Miss Wanjiru, who had a five-month-old daughter.
