STARFELT TO MISS CLASH IN HUNGARY
CARL STARFELT has revealed that a hamstring injury will rule him out of Thursday’s Europa League clash away to Ferencvaros as well as Celtic’s trip to face Dundee in the league on Sunday. The defender limped off after 56 minutes of Celtic’s goalless draw with Livingston on Saturday, with manager Ange Postecoglou later revealing the Swede would be sent for a scan. Starfelt has now told a newspaper in his homeland that he will probably be out for a ‘couple of weeks’. Although the player will miss the next two matches, he could yet make his comeback after the international break in the Premier Sports Cup semi-final against St Johnstone at Hampden on November 20. Nir Bitton dropped back into central defence when Starfelt went off but Stephen Welsh is an option for Postecoglou in Hungary. The 21-year-old has not played since Celtic’s previous game with Livingston, a 1-0 defeat on September 19. Bitton started Saturday’s game at the base of a three-man central midfield after Callum McGregor moved forward in the absence of the injured Tom Rogic.
