BUMBLE ON THE TEST

- By DAVID LLOYD

JONNY FOLLY EXPOSED AGAIN

WE HAVE said time and again that Jonny Bairstow has been hard done by and he showed the folly of much of England’s selection again at the SCG. He has scored seven Test hundreds now and this one was made in the toughest of conditions. It was a truly wonderful innings.

OUR GREAT SCOTT

WATCHING Scott Boland in Sydney proved you don’t have to be quick to succeed as a seamer in Test cricket. Think Vernon Philander and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Boland is a similar bowler, operating with unerring accuracy. It’s why Ollie Robinson has a great chance of an outstanding Test career. He’s cut from the same cloth.

LYON TAMERS AT LAST!

IT’S taken until the third day of the fourth Test for England to find the way to play Nathan Lyon (right). He’s gone for 71 in 12 overs with no maidens! They should have attacked him from day one, just as Australia did Jack Leach in Brisbane.
