Rashica finally delivers for Norwich

-

MILOT RASHICA scored Norwich City’s first goal in 40 days as they beat League One Charlton 1-0 with just 11 minutes left at the Valley. ‘It gives everybody a boost to break the cycle,’ said boss Dean Smith as Rashica swept home a cross from Teemu Pukki for his own first goal in an injury-hit season following a £9.4million move from Werder Bremen. Rashica’s intervention brought relief and spared more than 2,000 long-suffering souls in the away end from further embarrassment. One Norwich fan ran on to the pitch as the players celebrated the goal and appeared to confront them. ‘Just a daft fan,’ said Smith, more concerned with his side’s poor first-half display. ‘I was annoyed, we got embroiled in a scrap and we can’t play like that.’ Smith said Billy Gilmour’s absence was down to an injury and the Scotland star is unlikely to be fit to face West Ham on Wednesday. Wolves followed up their Premier League win at Manchester United with a 3-0 victory at home against Sheffield United thanks to a Daniel Podence double. The Portugal forward slotted home the first on 10 minutes, before Nelson Semedo doubled their lead in the second half. Podence then got the third after Raul Jimenez forced Blades keeper Wes Foderingham into an error.
