Jailed, detective who hid spy cameras to f ilm women naked
A DETECTIVE who secretly filmed naked models with spy cameras during fake photo shoots has been jailed for three years.
Detective Inspector Neil Corbel, 40, of Scotland Yard, posed as an airline pilot to book the shoots before planting the gadgets inside everyday items including tissue boxes, phone chargers and spectacles.
One victim said she had been left with bald spots from pulling her hair out after she found out she had been filmed by the depraved counter-terrorism detective. Another, Kirsty Lee, 29, a model from Brighton, said she was ‘disgusted’ by his behaviour and had lost faith in the police.
Corbel, a married father of two with at least 13 years’ experience on the force, was caught after one model, who had agreed to pose naked, became suspicious of a digital clock. When she Googled the brand name she realised the device was actually a high-end spy camera that could be controlled by a smartphone.
Corbel was arrested and told officers he was addicted to pornography. Detectives found images of 51 women on his computer hard drive, with 19 victims – 16 models and three escorts – agreeing to give evidence against him.
Corbel, who resigned after being suspended by the Metropolitan Police, pleaded guilty to 19 voyeurism offences.
Miss Lee posed for a luxury photoshoot in April 2017 for a man claiming to be a pilot named Harrison with a side job in photography. Three years later, police told her they had found naked videos of her changing in the luxury Westminster hotel bathroom that day.
Miss Lee, who has waived her right to anonymity, said: ‘Harrison had hidden cameras on the ceiling and had secretly filmed me changing. I felt so violated and told them I hadn’t consented.
‘The officers then told me his name wasn’t Harrison and he was Neil Corbel, a high-ranking Metropolitan Police officer who specialised in anti-terrorism. I was in so much shock. It was really humiliating.’
One model told Isleworth Crown Court: ‘I have pulled so much of my hair out with stress I have bald spots and have had to turn down work.’ Another said: ‘The fact the defendant is a police officer has scared me and shocked me.’
Jailing Corbel yesterday, judge Martin Edmunds QC told him: ‘You used a range of deceptions to induce women to take off their clothes in your presence so you could record videos for your sexual gratification. You did so using multiple strategically placed covert cameras, sometimes as many as nine.’
Detective Chief Superintendent Marcus Barnett, from Scotland Yard, said: ‘A number of the women have told us of their shock to learn he was a police officer. We share that shock and disgust.’
