Thief jailed after £336k whisky raid
A MAN who was part of a gang that stole more than £336,000 worth of whisky from a Scots haulage yard has been jailed for 32 months.
Colin Stephenson, 33, received only £100 for his role in the raid at Stuart Nicol Transport in Shotts, Lanarkshire.
Stephenson, of Wigan, appeared via video link from HMP Addiewell at Hamilton Sheriff Court last Friday and admitted theft, theft of a motor vehicle and reset in May last year.
Dominic Kearney, defending, said: ‘[Stephenson] was not aware of what was going to be in that trailer but he will now pay the price for that and realises it was a stupid thing to do.’
