Gordon’s got the builders in at £7m mansion... so he has to make do with a £12,000-a-month flat
HIS restaurants lost millions during the pandemic.
But Gordon Ramsay appears to have no problem with splashing out thousands on a rental property while his London mansion undergoes mammoth renovations.
The fiery TV chef is believed to be staying at a luxury flat in the new Battersea Power Station development costing about £12,000 a month.
Ramsay, 55, and his wife Tana, 47, are adding 76 square metres to their family home in Wandsworth by replacing their ground floor extension and expanding their basement to add a bedroom and a boot room.
Their gym, study, utility room, wine store and plant room will all remain.
They are also adding an expansive light well to the rear and side of the property to allow sunlight to flood in.
Plans submitted to the council were approved in July last year and stated work would begin in September 2021 and end in December 2022. In this time, Ramsay could fork out as much as £180,000 on his temporary accommodation.
The plush pad comes fully furnished and features an open plan reception as well as en-suite bathrooms, a private courtyard and secure underground parking. The couple bought their family home in 2002 for £2.8million and have carried out a number of renovations, including a single storey outbuilding in the garden and a temporary pig enclosure.
It is now said to be worth around £7million.
Mrs Ramsay posted a video of herself in her wedding dress in July, telling fans she was ‘clearing out our home’, two days after they were granted planning permission.
The cookery book author has since shared pictures from their temporary apartment, one of which shows daughter, and former Strictly contestant, Tilly, 20, cuddled up on the sofa with her younger brother Oscar, two.
Daughter Holly, 22, has also shared snaps from one of the bathrooms, which features blue tiling and gold furnishings. The couple also have a daughter, Megan, 23, and son Jack – Holly’s twin.
Ramsay’s restaurant chain, Gordon Ramsay Restaurants, reported a loss of £5.1million for the year ending 31 August 2020 as a result of the pandemic.
